always in line at time hortons... (image 1 of 2)
This photograph was taken as part of a project in Kwantlen Polytechnic University's Fine Arts 1270: Photography II course as taught by Vancouver artist Kira Wu in the fall of 2010.
The project tasked students with creating an advertisement or artwork that questioned, subverted ('subvertise') or satirized some aspect of our popular culture. I also used Photoshop to edit the photograph and to add the logo and text contained in my adbusters-like 'subvertizement' which highlighted the fact that too many people spend too much time in their cars lined up in drive-thru restaurants. I may revise the project to also include data on how people aren't saving money like they used to, as they spend too much of it on disposable and unhealthy food items offered through places such as Tim Horton's or McDonald's (although I have to admit that food from Tim's is probably healthier than food at McDonald's). Also, people perceive drive-thru's as being faster than making breakfast or coffee at home - but is it?
