Painted as part of a two day oil painting workshop taught by Northwest artists Dale Gehrman & Vee Hansen.
Oil on Canvas, ~ 1994 or ‘95.
This is one of Steven Lee's first oil paintings designed and executed by himself, with assistance and guidance from Vancouver artist Vee (Vibeke) Hansen.
The distant rock formations are reminiscent of those found on the Oregon coast, while the left hand side of the work was referenced from different places on Vancouver Island. The colour palette was chosen to match the colour scheme of the fireplace in Steven's Mother's family room. The painting would be given as a gift to his Mother for Christmas in 1994 or 1995.
