"modern movie audience" is a conceptual photographic series I created for my first project in Kwantlen Polytechnic University's Fine Art 3135: Advanced Digital Media: Open Studio 1 as taught by Vancouver artist Scott McBride in Spring 2014. The series is an update of Jeff Wall's conceptual photographic series called "movie audience," where he presents various models as audience members entranced and gazing upward in an ostensibly calm manner, their eyes glued in the same direction at an imaginary screen. My series brings in the notion of the modern multiplex cinema, complete with the plethora of food products and food combos sold to audiences members. And here, I am the sole audience member, lost in the imagery playing out before me on the screen, inadvertently stuffing my mouth with product after product.
